Jember Fashion Carnaval is an annual event that held in Jember city, East Java, Indonesia. Usually, this event is held on every August or September. The father of this event is Dynand Fariz. Dynan Faris is a fashion designer from jember, who created the best 4th carnaval in the world.
For the first time it's called "Pekan Mode Dynand Fariz", and was held in 2001. and in 2002, the fashion week was held around the central park of Jember. The first Jember Fashion Carnaval was held in 1st January 2003, the same date as the founding day of Jember city. but as I said before, Jember Fashion Carnaval is held on every August or September. But for the preparation of the participants, it's started on February untill the day of the show.
The thing that you must be proud being Jember society, especially if you are one of the participants. Jember Fashion Carnaval is the maker of National Costumes for Miss Universe Indonesia, Miss International and also Miss Supranatural. And in 2014, for the first time Indonesia wins the best national costume. Miss Indonesia Universe 2014 Elvira Devinamira has won the Best National Costume category at the 63rd Annual Miss Universe pageant, which took place in Miami.
Elvira's costume is titled "The Chronicle of Borobudur". Elvira's costume was inspired by Central Java's Borobudur Temple, a ninth-century Buddhist monument and Unesco heritage site. "The Chronicle of Borobudur" was designed by Dynand Fariz, the founder of Jember Fashion Carnaval, and It weight is 20 kilograms.
But not only that, in the same year, 2014. Indonesia could win The Best National Costume Miss Supranational. Estelita Liana as "Putri Indonesia Pariwisata" has won The Best National Costume Miss Supranational 2014 that held in Krynica-Zdroj Hotel, Polandia. “Warrior Princess of Borneo” the name of Lily's costume was also designed by Jember Fashion Carnaval.
Jember Fashion Carnaval has a long catwalk, it's about 3,6 km, which started from The Central Park of Jember to GOR Kaliwates. This annual event can attract so much tourist not only from Indonesia but also International tourist. If you want to watch this world carnaval, you have a 2 choices. First you can watch in the Central Park but you must pay for the ticket, which started from IDR 150k until IDR 600k. Or you can watch along the catwalk
